To increase the livability of a city and to make it more walkable, all modes of sustainable transportation should be taken into consideration in urban design. It is crucial to consider walkability with public spaces design. The spatial arrangements that will emerge as a result of the improvement provide many benefits for the city and its inhabitants. Creating more walkable urban spaces and making the city more attractive with public space design or urban art interventions increase the livability of that city. In addition, it stimulates commercial activities in the areas where the applications are carried out, encourages active transportation modes, and thus provides significant effects on public health by increasing physical activity. It also includes the potential of continuity of vital activities and the potential to generate solutions in crises that cities face. This panel aims to evaluate the subject of walkability and public space in a broad perspective, taking today's conditions into account, by bringing together experts from the public, academia, and NGOs working in this area.
