Zeynep Enlil
Prof., Head of Urban Planning Section, Yıldız Technical University
Zeynep Enlil is a professor of urban planning at Yıldız Technical University. She holds a professional degree in City Planning from METU, a M.Sc. in Urban Studies from Cleveland State University and a PhD in Urban Design and Planning from the University of Washington. Her teaching and research interests include sustainable urban development, neoliberal urbanism, urban regeneration, cultural and creative economy, urban conservation and tourism. She has been a consultant for the 2006 Istanbul Metropolitan Plan in the fields of culture, heritage and tourism. Enlil was the co-leader of the “Istanbul Cultural Heritage and Cultural Economy Project” and “Istanbul Tourism Master Plan.” She has been team leader in a number of international research consortia funded under JPI Urban Europe and Horizon2020 ERA-NET Cofund. She has been a member of ICOMOS-Turkey since 1998. She was appointed as a member of the Tangible Cultural Heritage Committee of the Turkish National Commission for UNESCO during 2011-2014, was a member of the Advisory Board for the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Historic Areas of Istanbul during 2017-2019; has recently been appointed as to the Advisory Board of Pergamon UNESCO World Heritage Site. She was the Vice President of ISOCARP responsible for the Young Professional Planners Program during 2005-2011 and currently, vice chair of GPEAN. Zeynep Enlil published in numerous scholarly journals. Her books include Creative İstanbul, Cultural Economy Compendium: İstanbul 2010, Innovative Strategies for Cultural Tourism in Istanbul, Historic Heritage and Natural Assets of Istanbul: Potentials, Risks and Problems of Conservation.
