Mikdat Kadıoğlu
Prof., Meteorological Engineering, Istanbul Technical University
He is a professor of Meteorology and Disaster Management. He graduated from Istanbul Technical High School in 1980 and from ITU Meteorological Engineering in 1984. He received his Master's degree in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987 and his Ph.D.from the same school in 1991. He attended such trainings on disaster management as FEMA in the USA, JICA in Japan and Bournemouth University in England. He is a member of Turkish Marine Research Foundation. He has published in Turkish and English on Atmospheric Sciences and Disaster Management. He served as the advisor of Presidency of Disaster Coordination Centre of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (AKOM) and Prime Ministry Disaster and Emergency Management (AFAD), and is still a training volunteer in Civil Defence and Turkish Red Crescent. He prepared and presented the programs “The Scream of Nature” on 24 TV, “Notes on Earth” on NTV, “Havadan Sudan” on Open Radio (94.9 Mhz) and A Haber TV channel. He wrote in his column “Havadan Sudan” in the newspapers Hürriyet and Milliyet. He is a lecturer at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Department of Meteorological Engineering and the Centre for Disaster Management Research and Application and also advisor to the general president of the Turkish Red Crescent.
