Background: British National, 38 years practitioner, encompassing Housing, Development, Crisis Response and Recovery coordination in urban areas and Capacity Development; 27 years ‘overseas’, the last 17 years with the UN. 2020– present: UN-Habitat Chief Capacity Development and Training Unit (CDTU) and Coordinator for Sub-Programme 4 – ‘Effective Urban Crisis Prevention and Response’ (Global). Supporting capacity development to member states, other partners, and UN-Habitat staff on broad range of urban issues including the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. 2014–2019; UN-Habitat - Emergency Director (Global) 2012–2019: UN-Habitat - Emergency Response Coordination on Post-Disaster/ Complex Emergency reconstruction (Global) 2009–2012: UN-Habitat - Led post-conflict housing reconstruction in Sri Lanka: The challenge, 200,000 destroyed houses 2008: UN-Habitat - Led the Shelter and Housing Reconstruction Cluster for Cyclone Nargis: The Challenge, 450,000 destroyed houses and related infrastructure (Myanmar) 2006: UN-Habitat - Led the Housing Reconstruction Cluster for the Asian Tsunami: The Challenge, 120,000 destroyed houses and related infrastructure (Sri Lanka). 2005: UNOCHA - Led the NGO coordination for tsunami response: The challenge: coordination of 500 responding INGOS (Sri Lanka). 1999-2004: Development INGO Director (Sri Lanka) 1995–1999: Development INGO Director Maldives and also PhD Case study: Urbanisation of Maldives 1983-1994: Westminster City Council (WCC) and the Royal Borough of Greenwich (RBG): Several housing related posts, ending as ‘Area Director of Housing’.
