Alexis Şanal

Alexis Şanal grew-up in Los Angeles, has a B.Arch from SCI-Arc 1995, and an MCP from MIT 2002. She is a co-founder of ŞANALarc. Her passion is exploring living culture and built environments that blend contemporary urban realm with timeless physical and natural contexts to create imaginative and meaningful experiences. Her recent efforts in this sense include developing Imaginable Guidelines, revealing man-made generative approach to tactical urbanism and re-thinking public libraries as enablers of localized knowledge communities. She is recipient of MIT best master thesis at MIT 2002, Wallace Floyd Urban Design Award 2001, Marvin E. Goody Award, 2002, Arkitera Young Architect 2014, a Graham Foundation research grant recipient 2014, exhibited work at MAXXI Rome, Istanbul Modern and Garanti Galeri, as well as was the AIA Droga Architect in Residence 2018.
