Solidarity has become very important in the COVID-19 times. In today's cities, where rapid urbanization is experienced and population density is high, the problems caused by the pandemic as well as their possible solutions have become one of the most important issues discussed across the world. Many sectors in the economy were negatively affected and job losses were experienced. Local governments and international institutions have developed and implemented many strategies in logistics, transportation, sanitation, open space use, infrastructure renewal so that people living in different cities of the world will be less exposed to the social, economical and cultural risks imposed by the pandemic and live in a healthy environment. In the panel "Caring for each other: Strengthening solidarity in times of COVID-19", we will discuss the solidarity approaches of local governments from around the world, the efforts of international organizations to ensure health and safety in society, and how employment patterns are affected.
