Jonathan Malagón González

Jonathan Malagón González was born in Riohacha- Colombia, August 10/ 1984. Is an economist graduated with honors from the National University of Colombia, where he was awarded as the best graduate of the year. He has a second degree in business administration from the University of London (supervised by the London School of Economics), a master's degree in public administration with a concentration in economic policy from Columbia University , a master's degree in corporate finance from the University of Barcelona , a Master in Banking and Financial Markets from Universidad Carlos III, and a PhD in Economics from Tilburg University. In 2018 he was appointed Minister of Housing, City and Territory of Colombia by President Iván Duque Márquez. For four years he was technical vice president of Asobancaria, in charge of missionary issues in the financial sector. He was a member of the boards of directors of the National Guarantee Fund, the Latin American Union for Housing (UNIAPRAVI), the Latin American Federation of Banks (FELABAN), the League to Fight Cancer and the Bankers and Entrepreneurs Club. Previously he was the director of the Macroeconomic and Sectorial Analysis section of Fedesarrollo (2 years), general manager of the social telecommunications program of Colombia - COMPARTEL - and advisor to the ICT minister, manager of Management Control, assistant to the president and coordinator of Studies Economics at Telefónica Colombia and researcher at ANIF. He has also been a consultant for CAF, the World Bank and UNDP, and he has been a university professor since 2006, teaching courses on macroeconomics and public policy at the National, Externado, Javeriana, Cesa and Los Andes universities. He was selected as one of the Young World Leaders by the World Economic Forum (2019), as one of the 100 most influential young people in the public sector in the world according to APOLITICAL. As one of the 10 economists of the future in Latin America according to Latin Trade magazine (2015), one of the 25 world winners of the Eisenhower Fellowship Global (2017), as one of the 10 young people outstanding in Colombia according to the International Junior Chamber (2013), and as the best economics student in Colombia according to the Portafolio Awards (2006).
