Time to town twinning

In this session, “Town Twinning between Turkey and the EU Project” implemented by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Directorate for EU Affairs between 2018-2021 will be addressed. The Grants Scheme with 2.6 million € budget encompassed 23 grant projects that aimed at increasing the administrative capacity at local level in Turkey’s EU accession process and promote twinning partnerships between local authorities in Turkey and the EU. The project has significantly raised the awareness on town twinning among the local authorities in the three years implementation period. Owing to the project’ success, the “Town Twinning Between Turkey and the EU-Green Future Project” with 2.5 million € budget was designed to specifically support local authorities’ projects with regard to environmental protection and climate change
