There are significant good practices in the field which need to be brought to attention to advocate for effective partnerships, collaborations and needs-based policy development for the purpose of strengthening and solidifying the role of NGOs in the field as well as improving relations between the public sector and NGOs for the empowerment and resilience of refugees and host communities. At the Marmara Urban Forum, GIZ aims to provide a glimpse into the good cooperation practices of Support to Refugees and Host Communities (SRHC) Cluster projects to discuss the key elements of a successful public sector-NGO cooperation in the Turkish refugee context, based on the accounts of NGO partners as well as their municipality counterparts. GIZ will present an overview of its SRHC Cluster Projects and their cooperation models, before inviting its public and NGO SRHC project partners to present their good practices for partnership structures and cooperation processes. Finally key outcomes and recommendations from the partners’ experiences will be presented. Representatives from GIZ’s partner organisations Refugee Association (RASAS) and Istanbul Sultanbeyli Municpality, and International Blue Crescent and Istanbul Küçükçekmece District Municipality, will discuss their respective experiences of public sector-NGO cooperation. They will share their lessons learned on working effectively together to reach common goals for the benefit of refugees and host communities in Istanbul’s Sultanbeyli and Küçükçekmece districts.
